Happy Camper

Had a better week than expected and was very happy with medium long run today. Still avoiding hills and speedwork and having to stretch a bit during my runs but adductor is recovering nicely. Have another physio session booked for Wednesday so hopefully we can do a bit more work on the back and adductor and then can start focusing on Piriformis and Core.

Week in Summary Run 75.5k@4:39
Bike 30 minutes
Cardio work total 6h 22min

Mon 8.5k@4:48

Tues 30 min bike
Upperbody work

Wed 10k@4:37

Thurs 13k@4:40

Fri 10k@4:44

Sat 9k@4:37
Upperbody work

Sun 25k@4:35 Medium Long run with Craig on a cool morning, although I didn't notice the cold as much as I thought I would. Fairly even pace throughout and took a few stretch breaks and walked up the hills. Was my longest and quickest run since Perth so was very happy when I finished, things looking good. Craig impressively ran over 30k and looked as though he was cruising.

Also doing quite a bit of stretching each day and really focusing on problem areas.

Watched proably the worst football game I have ever seen yesterday, I hope the teams were tanking as I honestly believe some WAFL reserve teams could beat that rubbish. A couple of postives from the Eagles was at least our two best players didn't play and Houlihan had a good game. TB, You can gloat but not a game you should be proud of.

Have changed my mind on Sydney and am instead looking at doing Melbourne Marathon on Oct 11 . This gives me 3 more weeks and 11 weeks today until the race, so hopefully I can get a similar number of kms in my legs in the last 10 weeks as I did leading into Perth. Hopefully Sling and TB can give me a quick rundown on hills etc on the course, have a course desc but doesn't show gradient that I can see. Looking forward to finishing on the "G".

This week I'm hoping to increase my km's to around 80-85km and will do Half Marathon at Burswood Park on Sunday at 8am, not expecting anything special, as slowly build and will be happy with anything under 1.35.

Comeon Aussies, lets win that 3rd Test.

Great to see you back.

Yes, I think Melbourne Marathon offers a better chance for sub-3 compared to Sydney, but let's hope for a good weather. Pretty flat with some undulations (easier than City to surf).

You might also have the chance to run in a sub-3 bus paced by Mona.

I'm gloating! at work and online, cos i don't want to annoy my wife too much, 5 in a row, I guess I should start wearing my freo hat in runs, that blue and gold one must be slowing me down hahaha...

Good to see you are going well again, continue to be diligent with the stretching, physio and wary of the hills and maybe the speedwork, and before you know it hopefully the injury will be ancient history.

Thats great news you have switched to Melbourne, and given the hills in Sydney probably a wise choice.
Melbourne is mostly pretty flat, A very slight downhill gradient for a short part of the run down to St Kilda and the beach, and a slight uphill gradient back to the MCG, scene of past Eagles triumphs in 1992, 1994? and 2006 and a lot of other sporting history. The finish is a bit like running into an Olympic stadium (I did racewalk into the Sydney Olympics stadium at the 2000 Australian 20km walk championship and Olympic test race, and also watched the 50km walkers finish there from the stands with my cousins so I figure I have some idea what its like) very special/surreal experience which is a major motivation for me coming back again to Melbourne for the 3rd year in a row...plus the fact its arguably a faster course than perth, and I have unfinished biz after my ankle explosion last year. So its a case of hills? what hills? with Melbourne...

I think you have a great chance of going sub 3 at Melbourne. I have a mate doing it as well but the way his training is going, I think he is going to go sub 2.50 and maybe even push 2.45 (wouldn't that be nice ...)

Amazing how much motivation one can get when you have a good week on the track.

Good to see Clown

Should MacDonald be In or Out?

I didn't see any of the tour match, but McDonald looked like a joke against Sth Africa. Can he really be that much better now. The term dibbly-dobblers seems made to describe his bowling.

Thanks Guys

Epi, I'm not a big fan of McDonald at all but if they're going to make a change at no 6, I think it is a better bet than Watson who invariably will end up injured.
